If you need a budget option check out the Steelcase series 1.Īnyone spending most of their time at a computer, should invest in a height adjustable desk.įor 24″ and 27″ dual monitors, most users will need a desk that is 55″ wide and 24″ deep. All Steelcase chairs are great, but I prefer the Gesture. Herman Miller has some great options, but I prefer Steelcase. You don’t need the most expensive, but you want a chair that is highly adjustable. If you sit most of the day, investing in a good chair can make all the difference. The best monitor mount for dual monitors is the Ergotron dual monitor arm, but if you need something that can hold more than 27″ go with the Erger dual monitor mount. Using a laptop or tablet as primary monitor. If the screen is too far away, the user may lean forward and cause back and neck strain. The eye should always be level with the top bar or line of the screen. The most important consideration for monitor height is it’s position to the eye. Be sure that you legs remain at a 90 degree angle and are supported. If your monitor is too high, elevate your line of sight by raising your chair. Be sure that you have adequate space for your thighs under the desk and that your feet are supported.Elevate your line of sight by raising your chair.Monitors should be at least 20 inches away from the user.Top line of screen is at or below eye level. Here are a few things to consider regarding monitor height. If your monitors are at the wrong height, consider buying this adjustable monitor stand. The key here is to avoid as much neck movement as possible by keeping your eyes in the best position for the best angle of view. For dual monitors, I recommend this 63×30″ one here. You should also have a desk depth of at least 28″ to increase distance between your monitor and your eyes. If you decide you need something larger, for example, 32″ or larger, I recommend using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. In general, I recommended staying between 24-27″ for dual monitors. This is a hard questions to answer, because every one has different needs when it comes to screen size. In most cases, dual monitors are better ergonomically, but a triple monitor setup may can be helpful for those who need the efficiency and want the primary display in the center. To reduce neck strain, one monitor is almost always better than two. Why single Monitors are better than Dual Monitors The larger the monitor, the larger the distance between you and the display. If you have 2 large monitors, scoot back to increase your field of view. The further you are away from the screen, the greater your field of view. If you’re using dual monitors, the optimal placement is in the area of your central vision. The human eye can almost see 180 degrees in all planes, but the area that is the most important (sharpest), is the 30 degrees of our central vision. Monitor placement is best decided based on our visual fields. Most monitors should be 20-36″ away from your eyes (arms length), but it depends on the screen size and number of monitors. The second monitor should be angled 30 degrees to the dominant eye. If the second monitor is used occasionally, place the primary monitor directly in front of the user. ![]() If using both monitors equally, place both displays in front of the user at a 15 degree angle (See above). If the display is angled and the neck is always turned to one side, this awkward posture for prolonged periods can cause pain, weakness, and muscle fatigue.ĭual monitors should always be placed based on the amount of time used for each monitor. Working in these awkward postures for a prolonged period fatigues the muscles that support the head.” When the monitor is too high, for example, you have to work with your head and neck tilted back. Neck problems from poorly placed monitorsĪccording to, “a display screen that is too high or low will cause you to work with your head, neck, shoulders, and even your back in awkward postures. Why single Monitors are better than Dual Monitors.Neck problems from poorly placed monitors. If you enter your name in the main window it will be duplicated in the second window. The following code creates an application that has two windows. ![]() In Properties window select concentrator domain ( yoke in this case) and click Apply. To visualize concentrators, select Simulation Data from Pipeline Browser and open Extract Block filter. The single shot simulation incorporates concentrators around the coil, but they are not automatically exported. If we select Inductor from Pipeline Browser and change the visualization from Solid Color to Current Density, we can visualize the current flow in the inductor, while keeping the temperature distribution in the workpiece. IMPORTANT: Because workpiece and inductor data sets have been exported seperately, we can manipulate results independently for each domain. CENOS automatically exports data sets of workpiece and inductor domains, but Extract Block can be used even further.įor example, in 3D single shot case CENOS automatically exports and visualizes the temperature distribution in the workpiece as well as a solid inductor. Extract BlockĮxtract Block allows to extract single or multiple domains from the full data set and manipulate the results in these domains independently. Even though they are not as complex as other filters, they are still important for the post-processing. IMPORTANT: If you want to apply filters to a specific data set, you need to first select them from the Pipeline Browser.įor example, if you want to apply a filter such as Plot Over Line to the workpiece, the corresponding data set must be chosen before selecting the filter, otherwise none of the filters will be selectable.įilters that are most commonly used as the means of visual result evaluation are also the first ones to be used in order to determine the validity of the results. ![]() The simulation data will also be divided into smaller data sets, such as Workpiece, Inductor etc. After the end of the calculation CENOS will open ParaView window with a pre-set state consisting of 1 result window (in 3D case) or 2 result windows (in axial symmetric 2D case). In order to use ParaView filters, first a data set must be chosen on which the filter will apply. If you know which filter you need, you can click Filters → Search. By default ParaView shows us the visual result components, such as Temperature or Current Density, but you can change the post-processing settings and calculate only values you are interested in. How to choose which result values to computeīefore we dive into ParaView and its workings, we need to first understand what is being visualized in ParaView. It is being used all around the world by specialists of different fields ranging from Structural Analysis to CFD and Climate Research.īeing one of the most powerfull open source data analysis and visualization software, it has become complex enough to confuse new users about how to use it. When properly designed and constructed, parking areas can be attractive, safe, and above all, easily and efficiently usable. This first impression is quite important to the overall feeling and atmosphere conveyed by the new facility. Not only is the parking area the first part of a building complex seen by the user, it is the gateway through which all customers, potential customers, employees, visitors, and others pass. Unfortunately, all too often, the important functions of the new facility’s parking area are overlooked. Many long hours are spent developing aesthetically pleasing designs that range in architectural style from Williamsburg Colonial to ultra-modern. ![]() Most developers enlist the services of an architect or professional engineer because they want their new facility to be attractive, well designed, and functional, whether it is a new shopping center, business offices, school, or apartment complex. The information contained herein is provided as an additional reference source for basic design and construction considerations. All applicable sections of these state and local requirements should be followed. Many localities have established certain standards and requirements for parking lots, as has the Virginia Department of Transportation. This page addresses some basic considerations that should be evaluated in the design and construction of parking lots. For businesses and commuter lots, the design must consider the use of the pavement by buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles. ![]() I see employees meeting each other in our lobbies or elevators every day because of their dogs. Please note – The primary objective of parking lot design is to provide safe, efficient vehicular access to parking stalls that serve businesses, commuter lots and residential facilities. As Hirschfield said, “Dogs in the workplace are an unexpected mechanism for connection. The dog-friendly policy also contributes to the company’s culture of collaboration. Having pets in the workplace has been found to lower stress and boost morale, but the benefits don't stop there. I still use this computer on some of my bikes, although on the Yukon pictured I now use a Garmin Edge 810 I also use one on another older bike with a slimmer quill stem like many quill stems my 3T version is oval as opposed to round, so the unit was inclined to slide round to the side on that bike I now fit it to the bars. Most have a shaped clamp like on my bike as shown so I had no problem. So, if stem-fitted, this would be a bit awkward if your stem has large front loading clamp as that could get in the way. The head unit unclips/slides off the front of the bracket. It’s so small and neat that it can fit on the stem just as I have done, the bracket head allowing for the unit to be fitted to the bar if that is what you prefer. The transmitter is also much smaller and neater than previously found. You select which of the other functions are displayed on the lower line these numbers are 7mm high, so again quite large.Īnother deterrent with earlier wireless models was their large size compared to wired models, but the head unit on this is only 30mm wide by 45mm long. Current speed is always the top line and, at 15mm high, the display is one of the largest displays I have seen on a computer this size. As a tip, keep this feature to yourself as many computers don’t have this, the rest of the group simply delegating the task of following the rest of the route to you, making blaming them for the next time you go wrong far more difficult.Īs you can see in the picture, the information is displayed on two lines. After I have finished blaming everyone else for going wrong I can simply zero the secondary trip between reference points when back on route. I am inclined to not view my route sheet as often as I should, often riding straight pass turning points while chatting away merrily to other riders. This is also where a secondary trip distance comes in handy since many event route sheets will list the entire route with directions and mileage points to guide. Trip distance is something I like to be accurate, since it is necessary for following route sheets. Whereas wired models would wake up as soon as you started riding again, the early wireless versions would usually require a press of a button to wake them up, something I just know I would have forgotten, which would have made the indicated trip distance wrong. What put me off the early generations was in part their the power saving mode most shut down after 10 minutes or so. Although I have used a cycle computer for years this is my first wireless version. ![]() It has 8 main functions: current, average and maximum speed, total plus two trip distances, elapsed time and a clock. I would also like a large, clear display with wireless set up, all incorporated in a neat slim unit that can be mounted on the stem as well as bars that’ll be the Cateye Strada Wireless at then! In my case, I simply want to know how fast I am going and my total and trip distances. Many of us use cycle computers but, since there are so many on the market, which one do we choose? Well, firstly you need to decide which functions you would like. ![]() Let me give you a piece of hard won advice – use a flare nut wrench if you can to support as many sides of the nut as you can or worst case use a proper fitting box end wrench. Folks when you go to remove the blead-off / unloader line, it is held on by a compression nut fitting. Note the top two poles are the hot legs coming from the wall. If you are in a multiperson environment, follow lock out procedures. I both cut the breaker and unplug the cord. I use a heavy stove/appliance cord going to a wall outlet. Second, please make sure the power is cut. Why open the floor drain? Because it’s your double check that it is empty. Fully drain the compressor – in other words let all of the air out and open the floor drain. Between my age and interruptions, I find it way too easy to forget things. Gone are the days when I try to keep it all in my head. I took a few photos from different angles to make sure I didn’t forget anything plus I labeled anything that might get turned around. So, when it comes to the repair, it’s a fairly easy swap. ![]() You will need to move your gauge, blow off valve, bleed down line, rear pipe plug and electrical lines over from the old switch to the new one. I removed the cover already but this is what comes in the box. I had problems with the check valve on other compressors so I jumped to conclusions and replaced that first. I did some reading and it turned out there were two likely culprits – either the check valve was leaking air back or the pressure switch was failing. After this got really annoying, I decided it was time to fix it. This meant that the compressor may or may not restart without tripping the 30A breaker and it got worse with time. At the end of the air fill cycle that brings the tank back up to pressure, the switch would shut off but then there wasn’t any bleed down to relieve the pressure on the pump. Failure is a big deal for me because when a compressor goes down in my shop, almost all work stops.Īt any rate, I knew something was going on with my compressor before it stopped running completely. One of the reasons I went with the 2340L5-V was that I kept burning out the little 30 gallon consumer compressors. Yes, it’s held up way better than my consumer air compressors but a buddy’s big Quincy compressor rocks and that is another story.Īt any rate, I use a ton of compressed air for pressurizing my casting tanks and running all kinds of air tools. In hindsight, had I known more about “value” meaning “we made it cheaper”, I would not have made the purchase. About 2-3 years ago I invested in a 60 gallon Ingersoll Rand (IR) 2340L5-V air compressor which is their entry-level “Value Line” of industrial compressors.
